Perpetual Education and Temple Patron Funds Removed from Online Donations

I always told myself that if I was rich, I would give big.

It sounds like that is exactly what some members have done to support the Perpetual Education Fund and Temple Patron Assistance Fund, as both categories will be removed from the online donation tool as the “generosity of Church members and others has led to sufficient levels of donated funds.”

When you log in to your donation page on lds.org, you are greeted with an “Important Message” explaining the update to the online donation categories.

“The Perpetual Education Fund loan program helps members of the Church of all ages get an education that leads to a self-reliant job. Since 2001 this program has touched the lives of more than 90,000 individuals around the world.”¹

The Temple Patron Assistance Fund was established to “provide financial assistance to those who otherwise could not afford the travel expenses associated with attending a temple and participating in the sacred blessings available only in the House of the Lord.”²

Interestingly, those wishing to still donate to these two funds can still do so through paper donations slips in wards and branches.

Maybe I submit this policy change as another wonderful witness that we are led by a prophet of God who is not seeking personal gain, but to do the will of our Father in Heaven. I’m so grateful for leaders who view these tithes and donations as sacred and treat them accordingly.

  • I would love to see the humanitarian fund put on the donation page as we put money into this every fortnight and I don’t think there will ever be too much money to help the catastrophic things that are happening in the world now.

  • I just logged in online and the Humanitarian Aid is listed. I agree with you, there will probably never be enough to cover the needs in that area.

  • WoW! Heavenly Father will do all He can to give us continuous Revelation and always prepare’s a way.
