VIDEO: The 9 Year-Old Whose Powerful Testimony is Bringing People to Tears

i want to be a missionary now

Helaman is 9 years-old.

He wants to be a missionary like his older siblings, but he doesn’t want to wait until he’s older.

So he took matters into his own hands with the help of his parents and bore a powerful and emotional testimony about the Book of Mormon, and the role of Christ in our lives. He then published it on YouTube, and still two years later, it is being shared around the world.

Helaman was named after Helaman in the Book of Mormon, and he recounts the story of the stripling warriors and the great faith they had because of their knowledge of Jesus Christ.

At the time of the recording of this video, Helaman’s brother was serving in Japan and his sister was serving in Pennsylvania.

While only 9 years-old, Helaman was quoting scripture and teaching with the wisdom of an adult. He spoke of trials and hard times that we all go through, and how those trials are given to us to make us stronger.

Helaman’s wish is coming true – his efforts in sharing his testimony have already made him a worldwide missionary. His video has been shared in a session of Stake Conference, and others are sharing his testimony with their grandchildren.

Here are just a few comments from those who have seen his video.

If you would like to learn more about the Book of Mormon, I bet Helaman would love for you to have a free one. You can request a free Book of Mormon >> here.

The testimony of this 9 year-old child is bringing the world to tears.

  • Just today I had given up and said I’m not trying any more. I can’t do this life thing, it’s too hard and nobody cares about me.

A few minutes ago, I received the mormonlight email and the first story I was directed to was Helaman.

After watching Helaman and hearing his testimony of why we have hardships, I’m back onboard with the one and only true gospel and this World’s only Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ!

  • Doris, you are incredible! Wasn’t 9 year-old Helaman incredible?! He is a great missionary – and it was so beautiful to see the love he has for the Savior. Thank you for your comment, and thank you for staying onboard. 🙂

  • Hi Ben,
This service that you do for us by bringing us this site means SO MUCH to me. I use it midweek when I feel weak, I use it on the Sabbath so I can keep the Sabbath Day holy.
I was in your Ward in the 1990’s when you were a young boy, we were Hinghamites.
    Thank you!

  • Your heart is in the right place and the lord knows and if this is your calling it will happen soon enough and maybe there’s a reason why you feel that way maybe there’s a urgency from the lord himself that maybe more missionary’s young and old need to be out there sharing the gospel who knows but your testimony is innocent and pure and out of the mouths of babes comes the truth.

  • I have been struggling with MDD (major depressive disorder) for years. I am 66 and the fight has almost drained out of me. The last few weeks have been very dark. It has been almost impossible to see the light, as much as I love the gospel. Then the Lord sends a nine-year old angel, who looked straight into my soul and told me that the Lord has sent me these challenges because He knows my name and loves me and wants me to learn to be stronger. How can I thank this young man for the strength he has given me? It is a greater gift than he will ever know. Thank you, Helaman. I will not give up. I will keep fighting. Bless you.
