Mormon Newsroom released an official statement today about volunteers in Turkey. It is unclear under what capacity these volunteers were serving, whether they were full-time missionaries or other volunteers. The statement reads:

The Church has transferred 15 young volunteers serving in Turkey to Germany, where they will continue their service among the Turkish-speaking population of Berlin. We anticipate these volunteers will return when conditions in Turkey normalize. Our prayers are with the people of Turkey and with our Church members who live there.

Earlier this month, Deseret News reported that all LDS missionaries in Turkey were safe following the attempted coup by the Turkish military against president Recep Tayyp Erdogan. The country remains mired in tension and unrest. Turkey is part of the Central Eurasian Mission, which was created in July 2015.
